# Everyday tasks on your own phone

Type a task in plain words and watch Silan's agent do it on your iPhone, with no Xcode. It asks before it pays, sends, posts or deletes.

You have a phone and a Mac, and a small job that lives on the phone: look something up in an app, work out a sum, set a timer, add a thing to a cart. Silan's chat takes the job in plain words and does it on your iPhone while you watch the live picture. The Simple way needs no Xcode and no Apple account: Silan acts as a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and takes the picture over the cable. Anything that pays, sends, posts or deletes stops and asks you first.

## A worked example

Your iPhone is plugged in and set up the Simple way. In a new chat you send:

`Find a desk lamp under $50 on MegaMart. Then check the Budget Tracker in CloudDocs to see how much of this month's budget is left after buying it. If I can afford it, add the lamp to my MegaMart cart and tell me the lamp, its price and what's left.`

The chat shows `Working · 0:08 · 1 step · Opening MegaMart` and the live picture on the right shows MegaMart open and `desk lamp` typed into its search. The agent finds a lamp at $35.99, opens CloudDocs, opens the Budget Tracker document and reads $145 left. It goes back to MegaMart, taps **Add to cart** and opens the cart to check. The answer card names the lamp and its price, says you can afford it, and says $109.01 will be left. The work line folds to `Worked for 2 min 11 s · 13 steps`.

Smaller tasks are quicker: `Open Calculator and work out 12 × 7.` ends in 26 seconds and 6 steps with the answer 84, and `Open Clock, start the stopwatch, and record one lap.` records Lap 1. When a task names an app the agent has not used in this chat, a card asks first, with **For this chat** or **Clock for 1 hour**.

## Steps

1. Plug the iPhone in, press **Set up**, pick the Simple way and follow its four steps ([Install and quickstart](/quickstart/)).
2. Open the phone in Silan. In the chat panel, type the task and press Return ([Agent tasks](/features/agent-tasks/)).
3. Watch the steps and the live picture. Each step shows what the agent did and why ([Live view](/features/live-view/)).
4. Answer an ask card when one shows: **Just this once**, **For this chat** or **App for 1 hour** ([Safety](/features/safety/)).
5. Take the phone over with **Take over** when you want to do a part yourself, then **Hand back**.
6. Press Control Option Command Period to stop everything at once.

A task that passed before replays from its cache the next time you send the same words on the same phone, with no model call. A finished chat can be kept as a flow and run again later ([Flows](/features/flows/)).

## What is supported today

| What | Status |
|---|---|
| Short tasks in plain words on your iPhone with the Simple way | Supported, proved by the owner |
| Tasks that pay, send, post or delete ask you first | Supported on made-up test apps. Not run on the owner's real accounts |
| Passwords from the Vault or a password manager, never seen by the agent | Supported ([Sign-ins](/use-cases/sign-in-without-seeing-the-password/)) |
| Faster repeats from the replay cache, a finished chat kept as a flow | Supported |
| A daily spending cap on model cost | Supported |
| Tasks on a schedule while you are away | In testing ([Scheduled smoke tests](/use-cases/scheduled-smoke-tests/)) |
| Let the phone sleep when idle | In testing |
| Tasks with the phone unplugged | Not on the Simple way, which needs the cable for the picture. The Developer way works over Wi-Fi after the first cable link |

Speed, measured by a Silan worker on an iPhone 11 on the Simple way: the first task after Silan starts waits about 13.5 seconds for the phone's helper, and a 7-task bench had a median of 88 seconds per task.

Proved by the owner on an iPhone 11 (iOS 27) on a cable, the Simple way, 3 Nov 2026. Proved by Silan workers on the same iPhone on 4 Nov 2026: the two-app shopping task above completed with the right answer and the lamp in the cart in 3 of 3 fresh runs (2 min 18 s, 2 min 10 s and 1 min 54 s), and the Calculator and Clock tasks with Mac and phone recordings. Asks before paying, sending and deleting proved on made-up bank, chat and notes apps in the agent bench of 18 Oct 2026.
